The Timothy Leary Nebula
The Timothy Leary Nebula

The Timothy Leary Nebula
Description: While having a little fun with Apophysis I came up with this wild colorful image and I thought, "WOW! This would make a seriously awesome celestial event!" And so the Timothy Leary Nebula was born. ;-)

I admit, the nebula does look interesting. Did you used a paint package (psp, p-shop) to blend the both renders or did you imported the Apophysis render into Bryce as a texture? The image has very effective color combination, almost as a Hubble space shot. To make it look like a real nebula, you'd probably need to blur the apophysis render on some places. A really good image nevertheless. I myself did a similar work some time ago, but it was related to constellations, not nebulas :)

nice job, I wonder if you can make something like this using only Bryce materials.

I imported the Apophysis image and applied it to a 2D square using the ambience, diffusion and transparency channels. The starfield is being viewed through this square. I did do some brightness and contrast adjustments on the nebula image in PS prior to the Bryce work.

The color range is what really got to me. The only color that's missing is green.

Gat-

I don't think I could produce an image like this just with Bryce. I do like the fun things you can do with other programs and import then into Bryce for interesting renders. ;-)

And I thank richter and Gat for their compliments. Lately I seem to be in a very creative frame of mind. I hope you like the next couple of images I posted. The latest one looks really great. I hope it comes up soon. I can't wait to see the responses. :-)

bravo!

Wow! Beautiful! I really like the way the gas appears to be HOT! The starfield also seems to be just as nature would intend. It looks a bit like a super-nova remnant, Hot gas cooling quickly and being arched by powerful magnetic fields almost like the flares of the sun. I would perhaps suggest forgetting the green gasses, or applying a hue up or hue down airbrush in a paint package to apply the green where you want it only without long renders. Excellent work!!

-bravo!

Thank you!!

I don't have to fiddle around with changing colors. I like them as is and I adjusted the contrast just enough to give it that 'Hot' look. When the render was finished I sat here and just 'drank' it in for a while. It really is beautiful. Isn't it funny the way things work out? A realy simple job can produce such intricate beauty.

This is a piece I'd love to print on good paper, frame it and hang it on a wall so it will inspire me every day. :-)

"The color range is what really got to me" - me, too. Very nice! I'm not sure it could be "sold" as a space gas clouds, a bit of blurring here and there seems to be missing IMHO. Nevertheless, it IS nice.

Thanks Horo. As far as selectively blurring parts of an image, I'm not that good.....yet! ;-)

And It's not important to me that it doesn't technically look like an actual nebula. It looks really cool and that's what I enjoy.

Right now I'm really busy doing mods on my Borg Killer Command Node design. The first one that I sent in is just a starter image. I've added four onmidirectional antennas and right now I'm redesigning the torpedo mounts. Ah, the life of a Federation R&D Engineer. Busy Busy Busy! LOL

Reminds me of some kind of spiders web. A spiders web on acid... Curiously, expreiments have been carried out on the effects of acid on spiders, that and other drugs... on acid spiders create very beautifyl three dimensional webs (maybe not very good for catching flies - unless maybe they are on acid too...) however, spiders on weed, just produce a kind of scribble or knot. Oh and don't feed acid to your cat, cat's can't metabolise LSD and remain perpetually strung out until their brains eventually rewire themsevles. Funny the things that stick in your mind. Very nice image... might be possible to get a similar effect with bryce "plasma" but I'm not sure it would be easy. Good work on combining the images.

Oh man! You just brought back some wicked memories. Fortunately those days are long gone. Still, I wonder what kind of images I'd be doing if I was still tripping like I did back in the 70's and 80's. Never mind.
LOL

You might be right about doung plasma images to mimic this on in Bryce but it was a cinch to do it with Apophysis. I'm going to have to play with that one more when I'm not playing the Mad Federation Engineer planning the elimination of the enitre Borg race. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

;-)
