The Borg Killer
The Borg Killer

The Borg Killer
Description: Here it is! Straight from the brilliant minds at Federation R&D ? with some help from Jean Luc Piccard, former Borg captive and now acting Admiral - I present to you the final word in Borg defense, the Borg Killer AI Guided Antimatter Warp Torpedo. Designed to intercept and blast Borg vessels into oblivion, these babies have a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence guidance system that is linked via subspace to command nodes scattered all throughout Federation space. The whole system acts as one massive ?brain? effectively mimicking the Borg Collective on a simplified level. When the command nodes detect an incoming Borg warp signature they activate one or more of these torpedoes, depending on how many ships are detected, which then intercept the Borg ship at warp speed. A new cloaking system makes them impossible to detect until they are right on top of the target and by then it?s far too late for evasion maneuvers. A high speed random deflector modulator in the nose allows the torpedo to punch through any shielding and penetrate into the heart of the target vessel where detonation occurs and, as the saying goes, ?That?s all she wrote.? ;-)

So far so very good! The nose is great and very realistic, much more so than the rest of the image. You are really getting the wheels turning in my head wondering where you will go next. Very nice modeling.

Yes, a good start, Spektyr. And a nice story too. If you succeed to create/recreate everything you said in the description field, your work will be a true masterpiece. I'm saying that this image needs to shake off the flat white/grey material applied. You wanted to show the Torpedo in its full light perhaps. Find a proper texture or material in the library (personally recommend those used for cities) make sure the bump option is tweaked for visible effect. If your goal was to play with the one object only, then probably a good material choices are all the artist needs here. Also you could show us the Torpedo in action. A distant aircraft ready to fight, some additional "helpers" i.e. more torpedos, a powerfull explosion. Just a suggestion. I know you can do it. Now, as Rashad, I'm anxious to see what will happen next.

Very streamlined baby. The nose is indeed excellent. As has been said before, we'd like to see a bit less dull grey, an interesting mat applied and, of course, the thing in action.

Ok. I'm working on an action scene right now. I hope you all like the explosion. I think I did a good job on it. The Borg Cube mat came out really good and I've worked out a black paneled metallic mat for the torpedo that looks really ?dangerous?. I mean it. This looks GOOD! I?m doing a first super fine render on it right now. I?ll post it when it?s done and you guys can give me pointers on how I can improve it, if at all. ;-)

BTW, wait until you see the Apophysis nebula image I did. It looks really trippy so I?m calling it the Timothy Leary Nebula. LOL
