jelly

The jelly itself seems improved, though the shadow does not seem any better to me.

Comparing both renders by clicking on one browser tab and then on the other shows no other change than the transparency of the jelly (and the copyright tagline jumps). I'm not sure the jelly really improved, there's a lot of darkness on the right. The problem is not TIR but this is a very nice example to show what TIR does.

Aye, it is clear from this comparison that the shadows are delt with in an entirely independant and not entirely realistic way compaired with the rays that actually make it to the "viewer" directly. The darkness on the right I suspect is caused by the rays running out of TIR as the "virtual" photons are trapped within the jelly material for more than the predetermined number of bounces. Swings and roundabouts.

Well, David, with this darkness I can tell that it looks far more real then the first one you posted. Most of what I can comment on has already been discussed above. I can only tell that your jelly material is (as your lighting skills) most impressive. The shadows I think you'll working on further. This is it.
