To give the sea a little more "rage" I would suggest using a terrain rather than an infinite plane, the "mordor" fractal seems to partilcularly lend itself to mountinous waves. Also some volumetric flames could assist, check out the materials-x for volume flames, orange space gas and azathoth plasma - any of which could be employed to make this scene a little more inferno if not infernal.
