Islet with Ruin
Description: The ruin is from DAZ3D, the trees are all self made, the light beam is courtesy Frozencry, found in the Mat Exchange here. The sky is a photograph I took last year. The scene is lit by the sun and it is very difficult to get it right where the water meets the sky. A light with square falloff makes the light beam brighten up the interior of the ruin. An additional faint light with linear falloff is above the camera. Slight contrast enhancements in PS.

You have done an excellent job of blending the photograph with the rest of the scene, in terms of lighting. I'd complain that the greens were perhaps a bit too green for such grey light, but that's not going to wash with you I know. Water looks good, I particularly like the way everything fades into the mist. The light rays from the sun really give the image a lift and come in at just the right angle to ofsett the weight of the black cloud. I have no qualms about giveing you full marks for this piece, I think the atmosphere you have achieved here is spot on.

David has already said all that I would have said. Excellent integration of photo and bryce. Water is great. Very interesting vegetation. All is terrific. 5/5

Thanks for your kind comments. Though you can make very effective skies from photographs, it doesn't come that easy. You spend less time with the clouds but much more with the haze setting. The light beam originates almost, but not quite, from the sun. I had to align it with the shadow on the ruin - though wrong, it looks more plausible.

Excellent blend! I think you've caught a few branches in the original shot and they look perfectly too, combined with the bryce-tree leaves on the right-upper side of the pic. The work with haze paid off quite well! Maybe the water is a bit too reflective, but then again - maybe not. The light-rays look very real. Impressive work, Horo!
