Abkehr (Renunciation)
Description: Kudos go to DAZ3D for Victoria v4, to Richter for the Haematite used on her and David for the Volume Fire material and again to him (and me) for the Coloured Light Ring tutorial :-). The scene is lit by 4 coloured rings, has some semi-transparent objects and needed 1.5 days to render. Postwork in Photoshop: enhaced contrast.

The statue seems to think that there is nothing to look forward to. Let's hope she will turn around soon and meet the light and the warmth waiting for her.

Nicely done. I really like the textures you used. What texture did you use on the woman figure?

beautiful

Horo, Horo, what can I say? I am in love with this scene. I find it to be very powerful. This image is like nothing I've ever seen. It's a very well realized piece of art. It belongs in someone's livingroom.

For my tastes, it is technically flawless. Perfect lighting, perfect model placement, perfect texturing, perfect form and composition, perfect conception and follow through. There are so many subtle dynamics at work in this scene. There's a beautiful balance of fire and ice like energies. It has at one moment so many qualities. Fury and stillness, and best of all simplicity. Wow. Thank you for this powerful piece of work.

The only criticism is with the angularity of object she's sitting on. I imagine that if that object was higher resolution and smoother this scene would show no signs of having been rendered in Bryce.

Alex: Richter's Haematite material which can be found in the mat exchange on this site. Note that the colours come from the light rings.

Rashad: The "stool" is probably the weakest thing here. If it only wouldn't take so long to render ...

Thanks for your nice comments.

It would be an interesting exercise to replace the lighting in this with your fire and ice based hdr and show how the haematite material responded under those conditions. Sorry, I've still got my brain in test mode. Artistically this is a well balanced and well composed image. I think I would like to see some hair on her head, but I can't really be critical on that point since I'm not very proficient at fixing hair on any of my own Vickies either.

Superbly lit and very well posed model. I think the lack of hair only levels up this image; there are no clothes on the statue either. I sense sadness in her. The Haematite you applied and the dominating blue nuances of the lightring bring out a cold feeling, but the fire right behind and in all the mirrors around, somehow strives to reach the statue. Complete circle, complete balance as Rashad and David said. The use of mirrors added very interesting effect on the character's forehead. There I see a multiple reflections of herself and this is easily taken by me as thoughts or memories past. Her blue eyes are wide open. I think She still has something to say to this world and hope is not lost. Horo, I love it, 5/5!

Thanks for the tip to try icefire.hdr, David. It looks ugly! I'm trying another stool, though.
