Difficult to choose between them really. I like the top one best, although I'm not sure that that can be entirely laid at the door of the secondary lighting... since part of the reason I like the top image better is because the sky seems a slightly more pleasing shade of blue and there appears to be a little less haze obscuring the trees on the hilltop. The foreground has fared well in both images. The contrast in the midground appears better in the top image, but maybe that is down to the reduced haze? Feel free to tell me what I should be looking for. Oh and congratuations, I believe I saw this image in the DAZ gallery...

thanks David

Yes, this image made it into the daz gallery. I'm glad it made it but there are others that I submitted such as Tropical Island Sky that blow Bug and a Brook out of the water but they did not choose those. I think they may have ommitted them because they had my name on the bottom. I think that only a few featured artists like you or matCreator can get away with that in the daz galleries. They have a rule about not promoting personal advertising, and perhaps an authoring clause looks like I'm hunting for a job. I will resubmit them without logos to see if they make it in next month. I hope.

Truthfully, there is only a subtle difference between the two. The secondary lights filled in the missing bounced light from the sides, meaning that the contours are better expressed. Notice the mound oin the middle of the pic. In the skydome version that mound is slightly blueish and looks flat in comparison to the new one where that mound appears to have more variation in it's shape. The secondaries corrected by volume cloud darkness as mentione by LitoNico, forcing me to raise the color of the sky to match. Lower haze was made possible by the secondaries as in the original I had no light to fill in vertical shadows (skydome has no effect on the vertical dimensions of models because it radiates from exactly 90degrees above at all times) so I relyed upon the haze to give the scene some weight and to lighten the shadows ever so slightly.

The new one is a warmer render. Purple and pink colored flowers are undeniable, so more blue from the environment is not necessary.

Congrats to you also once again for being featured with Unfinished Ravine. Last month Richter was featured. Has Daz asked how you produced the folige transparency yet?

I made my point on the previous one, having compared the two versions in original size, which is better. Yeah Rashad, none of my pics has ever made it to the DAZ galeries. I also thought it may be the (c), so I omitted it. No change. I'm just not good enough - or do not qualitfy. I look each month and noticed two of David's and yours. And richters last month. I even detected some of nibor's, the silent guy who also shows his pictures here.

what-

I'm surprised to hear that your work hasn't been selected. Have they seen Shut up?, have they seen clogwheel? Those are two images that come to mind quickly that send a chill down my spine, I am sure it would do the same for them.

Yes I have seen Nibor, and Tonkin there in the past and it makes me proud. They deserve it for sure.

It's clearly not just how "good" the image is, as I felt I had better pictures that were overlooked. Basically, we can never know what they are looking for. They choose based upon their needs, not ours. Best for you, you have an incredible gallery of your own and they know that.

This was the first time I had ever submitted anything to them, and I probably won't have enough good stuff ready for many months to come so I doubt you'll see me there next month.
