Haematite Watersplash
Haematite Watersplash

Haematite Watersplash
Description: Well, here it goes with a water spash. A few things were changed besides the water mat applied. I added the same apophysis plane used for the background right under the wavy surface. The frosted mirror mat firstly applied to the "splash" in the previous entry (bump=10) is now on the plane in front of the aphys plane in the back (sorry, I know it gets a bit messed up). Rendered again with 64rays/pixel makes the back part of the image to look as if DOF is present. And it's not. The .hdr file this time is "beach", the water mat is with 0 reflection pts and the render time was 6h ~20mins. One thing I forgot to tell you, was that the shadows were turned Off here and in "Frosted Haematite" entry. This will explain the short render times.

This looks excellet. The transparency under the splash really brings the image to life. The reflection at the back I am not so keen on. I meant to say, before, but the person to ask about .hdr's is Horo, since he has developed a technique to make and colour his own. It is still in the development stage but at this point in time you may consider Horo the worlds leading expert on making .hdr's for bryce. That is no joke by the way, I mean that that is really the case!

Needless to say, this image is worth every point of 5/5.

bravo!

Excellent work Richter and thank you for this test at my request. The blue .hdr was exactly right. I agree with David about the reflection at the back, in that it makes me question exactly what that wall is made of to be so reflective. The water itself is quite fine, I wish it had more agitation, as now it looks like it could be a little bit thicker than water. It looks a little bit of slow moving liquid. I could not do one tenth as well at this experiment as you did so please keep that in mind as the water thickness is almost pointless to mention, but yet is still an issue.

I thought this would be alot more difficult than it turned out to be. For most people this would be a chellenge but for you it's a possibility. You know when to shadow and when not to shadow. Excellent work!!! 5/5 undoubtedly.

Nothing to add, it's all said and I agree with everything up to the fiver.

I wasn't aware of being a leading expert in creating HDRI's. I'm a bit reluctant in sharing them at this time. DAZ is currently considering adding light probes to the Bryce content and as long as I don't know which ones are accepted, it's probably not very wise to offer them here. David is helping by testing the probes and with his artwork using them, I get a huge advantage in promoting the HDRI's.

First of all, sorry for the delay. I've been off for the last 5 days...vacation.

Thank you once again for the kind remarks. About the .hdr file creation -- I know it takes time to develop and finish the HDR project. When Horo is ready with it, and when DAZ come up with something as mentioned above, the testing will continue.

Rashad, that's a good point. Yes, it does look slower then the water I know (and drink). It was meant to be Mercury while modelled - not much side-drops of liquid around the center. David did something like this splash awhile ago named the same way "Splash" and this was actually my inspiration to create something similar to his work, but yet slightly different :)
