Abstract Landscape
Description: A landscape abstracted to the simplest forms of horizontal and vertical. The same method was used to create the models used out of trees as in "Lost Souls". This time the camera was placed within the mesh and the render made with 360 panoramic and DOF - here I am trying to make a virtue out of the curious DOF bug which brings things in and out of focus in a curious wave pattern. A few lights were used but I was careful to make the overall colours add up to a nice uniform grey. For influences, see Piet Mondrian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian

This does look like reed in a pond at first glance. The wrong DOF at 90? and 270? is obvious and this is a neat idea to exploit this. Colour and light are very pleasing.

cool effect

Very interesting effect. It reminds me somewhat of the image with the lost souls maybe. There were very right angular tress meshes in the scene. Nice to see that tech applied again here. I've got to find out from you how you do that one day.

Well... thanks, but they are just adapted trees... I provided the figures for them with the lost souls, but if you prefer email me and I'll post you a .br5 with them in. Not a problem.

Bluriness is excellent on this one. I'd like to see a Technocity- or Witness to Ruin- like material on one of these 90-degree trees.

I have indeed tried some of those materials, but the structure is so complex that it tends to not mix well with a material that exhibits any level of complexity itself and the results - so far - have been somewhat muddled and confusing to the eye.

Adapted trees, of course. But I would've never guessed that without knowing about the Lost Souls img. Very strange and very effective use of DOF and panoramic option. I like the idea and the result. Clever David...
