Quadrilogy

Quadrilogy
Description: As an experiment I started out by carefully and paintakingly detailing a lattice with the smallest of the terrain brushes, took about two hours. That lattice is the upright collums that are suppose to be a bit orgic in shape. I placed this inside a mirrored box, added a floor of water and a ceiling which was a compostie of a procedural texture and mordor. I made a fairly basic texture and indroduce about a dozen coloured lights to pick out the detail in the lattice. Finally I added the alien creature from one of my previous images to act as a focus for the scene (a composite of metaspheres and vicoria 3 model posed in DAZ|studio). Red fog and brown mist, hide the fact that the reflections do not go on forever, the render depth was set at 12 for this and it took about two hours to render at this resolution. No postwork appart from my web address. The inspiration was watching the Alien Quadrilogy back to back and all the wonderful Giger artwork and design that was used in those films.

Ah - those stalactite/stalagmite thingies at right are just beautiful shapes. Excquisitly lit. I'm not sure whether I'm scared or delighted by this picture, I'm certainly awed. 5/5 from me.

Beautiful lattice columns. Does look a good bit like Giger, and though I'm not a huge fan of his works this looks very good. The thing I like most, however, is the texture on the lattices. Care to share it with us?

Thanks! Sure no problem. Lattice material uploaded to the x-change. To get the same effect as in the example image above, multiple lightsources are needed to set off the specularity halo.
