The bunker.
Description: Yes. I like LOST. It's nonsence I know, but entertaining nonsence. Curiously, 50% of the time I try to put a comment or upload an image onto this site I am prevented from doing so and find myself logged out - without having logged out...

Anyhow, this image, makes use of multiple light sources, some of them strongly coloured and models manufactured in wings3D as well as some which came with 5.0 - those familiar with bryce probably already know which ones.

OK, technically speaking, it's a little bit too clean and rather too bright - and not all that accurate. But I enjoyed making it anyhow!

SUPERB!

You really understand this program!! Amazing textures promoted by excellent lighting. Metal pipes, stone walls, graffiti, floor tiles, all 100% convincing. Soft shadows seemingly accomplished automatically by that string of lights at the center. I don't mind the brightness at all. The graffiti adds color and a touch of humanity. Yes it's clean, but your metal and stone textures still give the scene a sense of age that satisfies my need for "dirt." Curious, how long was the render with all those light directions?

Looks very sci-fi. Cover of a post-apocalyptic book perhaps? I don't object to the cleanliness, but perhaps the dirt should be a little less shiny. Looks a bit like slimy skin of a reptile. Graffiti is also out of place, with everything so neat. Blue light at right seems odd, where's it coming from? Geodesic domes are nice, and I can't find any preset objects- though I'm not very familiar with the objects-section.

I too am having the log out problem, I figured it was just a problem with my cookies setting. Interesting to know others are experiencing this too.

And I was logged out trying to post this comment. Good thing I copied it before trying to post.

Excellent as per usual. Since I don't know LOST, I'm not expecting anything in particular. Indeed, that cyan light on the ceiling above the graffiti looks a bit odd. Does it come from that dustbin-like light? Nice touch, that Yin Yang with the I Ging hexagrams. I like it a lot.

Yes, I also get logged out at odd times. Seems to happen when I'm chowing too long on a comment before submitting it. I use to copy my sermon to the clipboard before submitting. Strange, whenever I respect such security measures, I won't get logged out.

Thanks! It took about 2 hours to render at this resolution. Provided that a concervative choice of materials is made then additional lightsources do not come that expensive, it is a different matter if I build a scene out of glass or volumetric materials. I agree about the graffiti being out of place, that, the clock and the yin/yan symbol were brought in as bitmaps directly "borrowed" from the show. The blue light is a tinge from the lamp stood on the floor. The Geodesic dome shape was made in wings3D - it is a very easy procedure to make such in wings3D, just create the solid form want from a primitive, inset all the sides a bit and then intrude. Also thanks for the feedback on the loging out issue. I shall have to remember to copy my text before I post.

I'd already figured out the inset-intrude technique, I was just wondering how you got a Geodesic dome (or perhaps a Geosphere) in wings. I tried several times, and once or twice came close (my golf ball is an altered Geosphere), but I never got a true geophere with enough sides to fit my needs. Perhaps you could share the method?

No problem. Start with an icosahedron primitive, select all the edges and press c. Now scale (uniform) the new lines outwards so the shape appears roughly spherical. Now select all the edges again and press c. Again scale the new lines outwards till the shape is once again roughly spherical - this process can be repeated endlessly to create a geosphere of whatever complexity you desire.

I'm not alone! The log-out problem I mean. But the magic combo "Ctrl+C" works always.
I like LOST too and I'm so anxious to see the third season.
Very good pipes, all of them. You did a great job -- all constructs, the counter, the "Dharma project" logo and especially the PC! I don't exactly remember on which wall I saw the graffiti when I watched the show but they look fine to me right here. I just don't see Locke there:) Will there be someone to re-roll the counter now...who knows:) Once again - nice stuff you build.
