Necromancer's Amulet
Necromancer's Amulet

Necromancer's Amulet
Description: "My precious...", well it's not about a ring this time:). Driven by a few RPG games and all the sorcery and spellcasting there I've made this necromancer's best "friend". Evocation, conjuration -- easy as pie if you have this baby around your neck:)
Modelled in Maya and imported in Bryce. The fingers and the chains are with modified version of David's Polished Iron, ground plane - variation of Frosted Mirror, wood tex is a tough (but perhaps) successful experiment with 3 different combined textures. The eye was the tricky part. There are two bryce-spheres (added after the main import) one inside the other. To the inner sphr is applied an apophysis rend, the outer is with diamond tex (thus gaining the depth an eye requires). The minor postwork consist of the 2 small rends. No postwork on the final render. Hope you like it:) Have fun!

downloading to see it

Jesuis is right. This image is amazing although for me it's not displayed clearly here. For some reason, it's fine upon download, but it's a blurry mess to view on this website through my connection. Other people need to know that this image looks alot better than it is being displayed or rendered in this little window above.
The eye is terrific, as the Bryce5.5 renderer handles transparency for liquids and glass really well. Excellent models. Very organic feeling. Aside from it's neutral environment, there is a strong tendency for realism here. Another display of craft and professionalism from Richter. Bravo!!!!

This is another of your excellently modelled objects. Beautiful detail and finish. The way you show the object is a piece of art in itself. I've always liked your care for detail. Hard to improve upon this. Top marks from me.

Thank you all, you're flattering me. Jesuis wants to see more, well.. the last of the Colony Series is on its way and it will combine some serious ideas of mine. We'll see :)
Rashad, I'm not sure what's causing the problem. My browser showes the pic as good as from my HDD. Thanks for download and appreciation.
I'm glad you liked it too, Horo. The amulet turned out to be more then I expected when I started it. Have a nice render!

The eye is very good! Interesting technique on that. Wood is not so convincing, but it could certainly pass for skin of an alien. All considered, though, this is certainly a 5.

Agreed

Definately awesome! Love the chain links also, very appropriate for a necro I'd say.

The wooden element reminds me Baginski's "The Cathedral" so I wouldn't rather put this on my neck;) I like the way you employed Apophysis to make "iris" of the eye. Top of the mark.
