Illhorn Morgen (TerraGen)
Illhorn Morgen (TerraGen)

Illhorn Morgen (TerraGen)
Description: Essentially the same commentary applies as for ?MyView? done in Bryce. However, this one was created and rendered with TerraGen. The foreground is not authentic, trees are missing. The mountains are more accurate than in the Bryce render, even the material. Mist and sun position apply for a February morning.

Ahh... Terragen...

Good in every respect but really I feel that Terragen is something of a one trick pony. The first five renders you do with Terragen will amaze you with the quality of the light and the wonderful fullness of the atmosphere - after that you will come to recognise that in those first five rendered you have just about explored all that Terragen has to offer - well, yes, that's a little harsh perhaps, but we will see if anyone else feels the same way?

Disagreed, David.

Perhaps you've figured Terragen out better than I have, but my struggle is to do better and better. Just taking a look at the galleries of masters of terragen (Luc Bianco, http://lucbianco.free.fr/, `tigaer, http://tigaer.deviantart.com/) is kind of depressing, seeing what I can't do.

On the image: I like the bryce version better, though this is probably more realistic. Perhaps increase the snow's scale depth so it doesn't conform to the rock? Your clouds are nice, but could use some warmer lighting.

I stand corrected.

I've not seen Terragen images like those before! Well worth a look to anyone wishing to follow the links. Thanks.

WOWZERZ!

your work is so realistic and beautiful that i am compelled to try out Terragen for myself. I mean, seriously, this is amazing, and those linked images from LitoNico are breathtaking as well.

Teragen

I put up the pic mainly to have the ?Unrelated Programs? populated in order Nights4r sees his labour was not in vain.

From an artistic point of view, the pic may not be as good as it could be (David was kind enough to send me the pic back with lens flares applied, quite an enhancement), the goal was to create a photorealistic representation.

Like LitoNico (thanks for the links, here's another one: http://www.space4case.com/space4case/index.php) I do not fully agree with David. I started with raytracing using the free TerraGen. It needs to get the hang on to apply the mats, but so does Bryce. Bryce is so much more versatile than TerraGen and that's why I concentrate on it. When it comes to real landscaping, TerraGen definitely has the edge.

Great image!

Horo,

just followed the Animation link from Bryce Discussion
and found this impressive image.

re: Terragen....one trick pony, but what a trick!
If nothing else, you can use it as a background image in Bryce, ya?
