Description: DAZ have given away this rather splended spaceship model, look in their free model archive if you want to get yourself a copy. And I built this setting around it using a terrain, an infinte plane, one additional light source and some plasma effect - oh and a little wings model of my own. And rendered the whole thing in 360 degress panoramic. So the question you should be asking yourself at this point, unless you already know the answer that is... question: how did I create the DOF/ heat haze effect in this render mode?

Cute

The warm gamma makes me feel relaxed. Your bug is very cute. I see you're getting deeper, and of course successful, playing with the panorama projection.

I certainly haven't got an answer to your question, what's more - I didn't know that the DOF affects the haze (if this was your point) in any way. Nevertheless I'm anxious for an explanation.

And before I forget - you said the wings models are of your own. Does that mean they're your creation?

The complcated spaceship is a DAZ freebee. The spider thing is made of components I built in wings and put together in bryce.

If you have a free moment, build yourself a simple panoramic scene with things in the foreground and things in the distance and then switch to premium render and engage the DOF effect and see what happens.

Strange picture. Hard for me to come to terms with the colours. Camera view point excellently choosen.

Bryce behaves quite strange when rendering as panorama with DOF. The effect is not the same the wole way around. At 0? and 180? it looks as expected, at 90? and 270? not at all. That effect becomes more pronounced, the more you open the lens radius. Obviously, David has a trick up his sleeve, others don't.

*looks up his sleeve* Oh yes! Aye, the colours I was trying to push myself towards something a little less conservative. In other words - garish! Thanks. Anyone else care to tinker with the DOF, Horo's quantified his findings quite exactly, I would have settled for "that's weird" but it could - under the right circumstances - be a usable special effect?
