unreal....

The wheel is inside the water and ONLY there, right? I'm asking this, because it looks disfocused(is that a word?) like a reflection or something. Have you done some postwork or it's just my bad eyes that are seeing the wheel blurly?

No bad eyes

The wheel is half submerged in the water. It is, as all of the foreground, slightly out of focus because depth of field (DOF) was used. No postproduction.

Riven

This looks like it would make a good area of a new Riven game. :-)

Awesome work!

Compositionally the cable streaching between the two structures makes the picture - really like it. Care to explain how you did the planets in the sky, they look very good even though the light on them is a little contradictory, shouldn't the shadows be falling at the same angle on them? Dunno... space is not my thing... maybe Horo has an oppinion on this?

Moons

davidbrinnen, the moons are made from simple spheres. The one at right is uniformy semi transparent while the smaller one at left has a fading transparency map on it. Both are lit from the inside. This is -- unfortunately -- obvious at the smaller one. There is a bright spot near the place were the bright part goes over to the dark part. I'm only noticing it now.

Yes, I see the bright spot near the terminator of the smaller moon. I thought it was just a queer higher albedo then the surrounding terrain (something we can observe on the Moon, too). The question David rises is a good one. However, I think that depending on the moons position as seen from that world's sun and the angle they are seen from the world, different directions of light may appear. At least on Earth, when you watch the phases of Venus, Mars (with an appropriate telescope) and the Moon, they are quite different at times. Unfortunately (?) Earth does not feature two large moons.
