The Life Within
Description: The simple dew-drop can represent so many things. One of them is a "inner" world beyond comprehesion. (Although with a microscope we could take a better look :))
Oxygen IS fundamental. And knowing this I have created the bubbles within the drop. From this perspective the O-two becomes a bit "materialized" which is actually my goal here. The bubbles appear there in 1/100s after the drop fall on the leaf, then vanish... I think that's the moment I'm speaking of.

wow

I like it, its soo.. peaceful and refreshing. My only concern is the out of focusness of the sides of the leaf, other than that.. its great!

The sides

It's really great...I love it. But I think the sides of the leaf look a bit...plain... in comparrison of the middle.

If it was only bigger(2048x1024)...

Beautiful concept and piece of rendering great use of DOF, pleasing greens... almost a perfect piece my only quibble is that the refraction doesn't seem quite right in the drop, it doesn't look like I'd expect it too I'd kinda imagine more magnification of the leaf as seen through it - oh and did you remember to check TIR? Whatever, still worth a 5/5 in my book!

Thank You All

I'm really glad that you people liked the pic.
Boen_robot, you're right about the plain sides of the leaf. It is something I've been working on but couldn't remove or mask with the proper colors. I've waited 9.32h to render using the DOF option 256 rays/pixel. I'm not quite sure if I'm up to challenge my PC for 2048x1024 :))

...and Dave, well, 10x! The TIR wasn't checked but the next time will be.

Very good idea, superbly done. I don't discuss the leafs sides, this could have been cared for by just cutting the picture to a portrait format. I also have qualms about the refraction properties of the drop like David, the reflection seems right. Nevertheless, excellent work.

Horo...

Refraction, refraction... workin' on!
The leaf is not a picture. This is a texture I've found in my Maya folder. I don't know how the developers made it (drawn or scanned) but it's really good actually.
The "leaf-sides-award" goes to Photoshop7 :))
