Canyon-Pillars
Description: It's from david's tutorial-
I've decided to post it and see what people think so far. I have to admit, I'm starting to get the idea of working with skys...However I can't tell if it's a sunset or sunrise (probably neither, the canyon is to bright).
There are problems with lighting, the canyons looking too blocky, and maybe the plain texture... but here I am judging my own picture, I want to hear what everyone elses' comments are on how to make the image better.
Thx
PS. Great tutorial davidbrinnen

Cool

It looks very hot there. It almost could be on Mars. But the mountain formations look great. Very nice textures, nice sky. It makes me thirsty. Hehe. Good job.

This is in the Unfinished department, so I'm expected to give some advice or make a suggestion. Here it goes: this looks like a pillar circle from which we see half. Everything is scorched. What about a small well in the middle, giving some hope to the wanderer who's lost in here to counterpoint the heat? Just an idea.

It is a good terrain shape, there are scale issues though, I think it may be something to do with the FOV or possibly the camera angle - it's a tricky one, I try to place the camera at the eye height of an imaginary figure viewing the landscape - human FOV is in the region of 120 degrees, that's twice the bryce default, but in terms of our awareness of that scope I'd say 90 degrees, the utmost prefery is mostly concerned with movement rather than visual impression - anyway, to get to the point, I think a wider FOV helps with landscapes and a lower camer angle and a large terrain to allow some of the atmospherics to mingle with mesh. That's my two penorth!
