Film still from B movie.
Description: The Shadow in the Ice... Bryce5.5 and about five days to render out the DOF effect followed by a serious bit of reworking in post production, that is gamma compression, addition of halo's to lights with localised RGB lightening, edge enhancement, sharpening, turning to black and white, even more sharpening, pixel asotropic filtering - until finally, I got to this point where I feel I've got it as close as I can get it to looking like a shot from a B/W 60's SF film - the idea of the DOF was to set up a contary sense of scale, such as you experiance when a detailed but small model scene is vewied from close range through a macro lens. I think it works... For further information please refer to earlier versions of this image.

Doing it in monochrome was a good idea. This is really how I remember those SF movies. The DOF was worth the render time: I cannot complain about the foreground anymore. I don't think you could improve on this. Top marks!
