Jump Gate 1
Description: Here's a version of a Jump Gate I just cooked up. It's a far cry from Babylon 5 but what the heck. It was fun to do and I think the Vortex effect came out SAHWEEET! :-)

Yes the vortex effect works but I wonder about the lighting, so far as I know the ammount of ambient light in space is very low so that you get a very sharp delination between lit and unlit areas so that anything unlit almost vanishes compleatly except for where it masks out the stars behind.

Good Point.

I admit that I have the ambience turned up a bit too far on the planet and even more so on the gate ring. I'll probably readjust it when I get the chance.

Very elaborate rim for the vortex. I get the effect, but I think the colours are not ideal. I would have gone for black and white, essentially.

I'm a color freak. LOL I'm presently working on a new version of this concept that shows many ships evacuating an earthlike world that is about to be engulfed by a supernova. I'm curious to see the comments on the supernova effect I chose.
