The floor area looks good but the walls should either be in greater shadow or picking up some ambient light from the highlights on the floor or from the spill out from the lamps. Try running a strip of closely packed very dim grey/beige lights down the middle of the passage to give some ambient light and reduce the ambient light provided from shadow regions and sky dome to a minimum. Maybe... It's a tricky one.

OK sorry

Oh go check your email! Now, erm. If you are doing an indoor scene with now outside light then you can get rid of all the atmosphere setting. So starting from the top left, turn off the atmposphere and prgressively working your way along turn everything off and set to black - finish by nipping into the sky lab and disabling the sunlight. Thinking about it, you might want to keep fog or haze, but that's up to you. Now create a point light source in the doorway about half way up, then ctrl-c ctrl-v it and move it a bit down the corridor, then use the multireplicate function to create a line of these lights, edit them so that they are very dim (1) and if they are still to bright at that set them down to grey. That strip of light will provide a better source of ambient light for your corridor than the atmosphere settings - but it will up the render time a bit - however, if you are on 5.5 you won't have to sit back for days anymore.

Thanks for the reference, FoxBoy. Of course, David said it all how to improve. If that's to complicated just now, fool around a bit in the mat lab and give a bit more ambient light. The hard shadows will soften. Again, David's method is more elaborate and yields a better result: everything comes at a price.

Thanks, for the advice... I also did this because when you look at horo's hallway for a while you can see that it looks rather glassy.
