2001 Discovery
Description: The wireframes are from http://www.strafe.com/2001/ and I recommend a look at http://www.digitaldreamdesigns.com/3DModels.htm if anybody is looking for free wireframes. This picture also resolves Caperh ?Capsula 2001? which is identical to mine, except that no materials were applied. The Pods wireframe combines arms and main module, thus they cannot be manipulated. Discovery is quite detailed, but has no windows. Finally, the Jupiter mat is a high resolution picture I got from the JPL. It has the higher resolution than the identical picture that can be found in the mat lib in Bryce 5.5.

If the ground plane is removed, you risk a blue dot appears, probably from the sun. Here, it could have passed for the Earth, but was too large at this distance, so it had to be covered by a floating space rock.

Interesting comment about the blue dot appearing. And this site, is this Caperh's, did he model all this stuff or is it just the capsule?

Got a feeling that the ship is getting a bit confused with the capsule in this image - difficult to see where one ends and the other begins. Good use of materials on the ship and the capsule. Got that 2001 feel certainly. So where is the monolith?

Horo, I acept you have a amazing models but my capsule have more details in the arms, in the hands and all, so is not identical, I saw the movie 10 times or more and I draw the details first and then I make it in bryce, I check the other models in the site but its the same thing the arms and hands are wrong, sorry for my english and my orthography

Compair and contrast

Yes, I've take a look and Caperh's model has the edge as far as detail is concerned and possibly overall shape, although I haven't seen the film 10x I suspect that Caperh's is better in its general proportions. Horo has a more "realistic" setting for his model and certainly the materials help. But where is the monolith?

Sorry Caperh

I didn't mean to imply any ?treachery? on your part. It is just very difficult to believe you modelled it fully in Bryce; I would certainly not have the patience fiddling around with all the booleans involved.

To David: The monolith is still behind Jupiter, I'm afraid. In fact, I tried one, but shyed away after many hopeless attempts.

Yes, and I've seen the movie when it came out and have a VHS in the meantime, which a watched several times, but not 10 times -- not yet.

It took me a long time to do it but I did it part by part, first I made an arm and then I replicated it, then I made the whole capsule in the same way doing little by little the details, in the end I made the sides of the capsule and I replicated it too and at the In the end I made the base, once I had everything done I put it together and finally I got the result, I said it was my masterpiece because if I take a long time to elaborate it, and what do you think I don't save the model and I lost it, the truth makes me lazy do it again and that's why I didn't put it in space because I lost the file where the model had
