2001 Aries
Description: Aries is the shuttle from the orbital station to the Moon. I got the wireframe from http://www.strafe.com/2001/ the Moon-scape is from low resolution DEM around the moons north pole; the scale is completely wrong.

I don't know if it is the scale or maybe just that the giant disc on the floor does not have the right kind of material on it, but while the RHS looks almost convincing the LHS looks kinda like a model. Space is tricky, never looks real, take those first moon landing photos, they don't look real do they?

Scale

The platform is just large enough for the Aries to land on it, it hoovers right above it (double checked that with a 3D render). Comparing Aries door with the entrance to the underworld, this fits as well. What definitely has the wrong size is the moonscape itself. The nameless crater near the north pole has several 10 km in diameter. You're right, however, the whole setup somehow looks wrong.

The cool thing about space scenes is, you only need one light source, no mist or volumetrics and the mess finishes rendering within the lifetime of a poor sucker like me.
