DAZsub
Description: The submarine model was from downloaded from DAZ's free models resource area and imported via DAZstudio. The lighting is a combination of two spot lights, one with a gel to give the light a pattern and the spreading rays appear curtesy of Frozencry. Most of my time went into setting up the underwater lighting and placing a lens in front of the camera to adjust the rate at which the haze affected the sceene (without it the image was too murky through and through - but I can't explain how it works since it appears to defy optics as we know it - it just works). Gamma correction in PSP7.

Great underwater scene. Lighting is superb and Frozencry's lightrays found another excellent use. I do not like the water surface at all. Looks like a solid techno mat with bump, not at all like water. The bubbles, however, are a real smash. Adds a lot of dynamic to this otherwise rather static picture.Colour and transparency of the water give the feel of great depth. Change that techno look at the surface and you have another piece of art with top marks.

On second thought

You know, the sub looks small because the only clue of its size we have are the ?waves? of the surface. How about moving the surface out of view altogether?

You are right about the water (as ever) - I'm rendering a new version a the moment but as you might expect it's a long winded process with all the soft lighting and gels and what have you. Might have something to show for it next week.
