Twisted Skies
Description: I picked up this work just recently again, which I dropped aggggeeeeessssss ago because I failed making a proper tornado. Well now since i'm more experienced, i've managed to make one which is recognizable as a tornado ^_^ Reminds me of Davids tornado picture. I also added the noise and grain, and also blurred up a few areas a bit. Put some diffuse glow effects, but also I 'bleeched' some areas to make an effect sort of like in Splinter Cell, when you use nightvision in a lit area. Well you see what I mean. I'm still experimenting with the light rays, except I just thought i'd finish this one up for once.

The clouds looking good, like the effects there, the landscape seems a bit flat though and I don't think the water would be that calm so close to the tornado - but that is just a guess since I've never seen one of these things in the flesh so to speak. Maybe you could do a couple of renders, one for the sky and another for the land and combine them with a distance mask? Get the best of both worlds? The grittyness is good, particulary like that in this example - usually with the diff glow effect I turn that off but here it works a treat.

The clouds are dark and threatening enough, but the hose is not convincing (looks a bit like an udder). Of course, I have to rely on pics I've seen since we are lucky enough to not get that sort of nasty weather. Your pics concentrate on light and sky and that's quite ok with me since you're doing quite well. A bit of attention to the terrains would be an improvement. And yes, the water. In itself it is good, but not at this weather, David is quite right on this. I understand that it would be quite a challenge to make it appear wilder and you wanted to get rid of a prehistoric project. In this situation, I would have resorted to a grassy flat.

terrain and water

Not too good they are in this picture. I have a tendancy to focus on one or two things a little too much, and lazily do the rest. I might try and fix this one up a bit right before I get back to my other things. Thanks for the advice.
