Description: Models made in Wings3D - I decided to have a play with water and refraction effects after downloading Horo's water material that he used for his pond images.

Oh

More metallic fish to me, but then, fisheses have no windows so it must be subs. I was sure it was Wings and David when I looked at the thumbnail. Somehow a typical David design. Light is very good. That Pond mat looks surprisingly good on calm oceans. Reflection and transparency are really very impressing. Interesting ambivalence of calmness (water, colour) and fear or uneasiness emanating from the predator-like subs (form, colour).

creation...

How do you create the skin between the spines? I have tries making the skin first, and extruding the edges, or bridging the edges of the spines, but nothing works. Oh, and my complements on another superb pic.

The lighting in this image is suberb. The subs you designed are excellent, and I especially like 2 things about them, one being the lighting underwater and the other, the 'windows', which look incredibly cool. I like the water mat, I should try using it, I could really use some water like that.

Thanks

They nearly turned out to be helmets or diving bells, but I settled for subs because it was easiest to spell. The water is a combination of idea's from Horo's and existing water materials with tweeking. The lighting was tricky used point sources with softness of 1 - just enough to take the edge off. As for the skin between the spines, LitoNico, I've made you a little visual mini tutorial in wings if you want, just email me and I'll send it back as an attachment - same goes for anyone else who wants to see how the fin bit was done - sorry if it has to be highly compressed (jpged up) but I don't have much bandwidth on my email. It takes less than ten steps in wings you will be pleased to hear.
