Huntress
Description: Mainly done as poser practice but rendered in bryce as I prefer it over poser's plus where else do you get such nice skies, heh.

Before you mention that I should've given different texture to bow and bow's string - I know but I remembered it only when I was at 88% of render and couldn't be bothered to start again.

Question time

This is interesting. I nearly didn't look at it beacause the thumbnail does not really represent the full image but I got curious since I could see you used a poser figure - or I judge by the slightly vexed look in her face that this is V3? I would say she has every right to look annoyed because whenever I try to manipulate her I end up twisting her arms around her back or something equally awful. So here's some questions. Which model is it? How did you give her hair? Did you use a standard pose? Did you make the clothes yourself? Did you manage to import her directly into bryce or did you have to use Dazstudio as a intermedery because of file size handling issues on the import object option? There you go, enough questions even to keep Jesuis happy - oh, and keep up the good work! Oh and oh, it is me or is there something funny about her eyes? Don't take it to heart, getting figures right is a nightmare!

Figure is Victoria 3.0 with a mix of New Generation morphs applied to her (New Generation is a add on tool that gives you even more dials).

Hair is a free model I got from Kozaburo's site (if you want the linky, I can give you around 10 site links that give downloadable hair). Now downloadable, non original hair has a nasty habit of not being transparent where is should be in poser. Bryce solves that probbie nicely with the usage of transparency maps which you get with the hair (or can draw yourself using image maps).

Pose - now this is a tricky part - usually I find its best to choose a standard pose which resembles the pose I wish to achieve and then just slightly manipulate to get the desired effect. Another advice for you is to use dials rather than "manually changing the pose) - that way you won't end up with weird outcomes and you can tweak it step by step. You achieve that by selecting the body part you wish to move/change and pressing ctrl+I. A window pops up and then you select "parameters" and move it around. Another useful thing is to turn on inverse kinematics - it works in a way that it won't allow you to make anathomically incorrect poses. Of course, if that's what you want, then turn it off. This can be found in main manue : Figure--->use inverse kinematics. In this pic I used archery pose that came with the bow I also downloaded and then played with the dials a bit to get the desired result.

Importing to bryce - strictly done from poser as OBJ file. I usually select options to keep all mesh part names the same. Now in Bryce a few probbies will occur. If you're using Vic 3.0 her eyelashes will look awfull. You can fix this by selecting the eelash group which is named something along the lines of Head1_8 (for Vic 2 its Head % I think) and then using image map texture for the lashes (again provided with Victoria). OBJ from poser to bryce is pretty large but my compy manages it and I don't have that strong configuration (1,8 GHz processor, 700 RAM). If your bryce locks up near the end of importing, just click on little x in the import progress window - you'll still get your figure imported with no faults.

Clothes are also a free download - I had barely started using poser (1 week now) so I'm not that advanced yet :). Again, if you're interested in links to the sites where I got them, I'll be happy to provide.

Eyes - looked right on close up of the face but I get your meaning, looking like this they do look a bit off. But, as with the bow texture, I was too lazy to fix it when I realised so. If you stick your nose right to the screen, they look right so ... hehe.

Vexed look was desired.

Now that is what I call an answer. Ok, well I may have a bit of intellegence for you then on the hair front. You know the dynamic hair, if you clear off the figure and bring in some dynamic hair on it's own, position it how you think it is going to be orientated in Bryce - run the dynamics moddeling thingy - then export as .3ds (3dmax format) making sure you tick the check box for indvidually named components (this is vital otherwise for some reason the hair seems to disappear - or it does for me anyway) then inport object into bryce and you have a model (sort of) of the hair - it's not perfect and you will have to make your own material for it but it is a kinda of interesting effect you get from this so maybe worth a look.

Inverse kinetics - I've not noticed that so I will give that a try.

I saw a tutorial where the eyes were targeted on an object in poser to get them looking right - but I don't know where it is or how to do that. Doh.

I wouldn't mind having those links - I'm not sure about the copywrite issues of using other peoples models but I guess I could always ask. So yes please.

Last time I looked Victoria3 was being offered as a free model on Daz3d site so I got my friend to download it for me - my internet connection will not deal with large downloads - there is a lot of free stuff on their site for anyone with the bandwith.

Cheers.

COpyright issues are always stated in the folder where your download is - and from what I could see so far (and mind you, I downloaded almost 1 Gb of free material) most of them don't mind if you use their objects comercially in renders.

Eyes - I've seen it somewhere as well but can't now remember for the life of me though I'm sure I have it in my links. Maybe if you parent them to something? Hmm, have no idea.

Victoria 3.0 is not free - the only thing that is free is the one you get with free DAZ studio and which you can import into poser but under a threat of having to pose her all over again and assign bones and groups (been there, tried that). Plus the free one is with low resolution texture maps and hardly any facial morphs. What I mean under more fcial morphs you'll prolly see in my next render if it works out the way I want it.

Linkies are on their way to you if sent e-mail option works in here :) If not, will post them here unless this is infrigement of the rules.

Hair intelligence - thanksies and yep, it disappears for me as well. I asked what the probbie was on poser forum and got similar answer. As for texture - if you get free Steve Coc's UV mapper, you can make it pretty realistic. But I suck at dynamic hair so I rather use prop hair.

Well, yes they are indeed offering Victoria 3 and Michael 3...for free! Vic comes with no morphs, and
Michael's face cannot be posed (I can't figure out how!), but they are indeed the real things.

IMHO Vic with no morphs and bad texture maps equals not much so... and the one you do get fro free has those characteristics. I guess, one shouldn't look at given horese's teeth but..*shrugs* As you yourself said, no morphs and cannot pose face. If you want that options enabled you have to pay for them therefore I would hardly call thzat product free.
