Description:	Experimenting with partly transparent 2D faces. The target aquisition guide features magnifying optics that get more powerful from the perimeter to the center. To give some depth to the starfield, I added a cube with snow material. The ?snow? gets randomly coloured. I got inspired to do this by the BBC TV production of the HHG. Aliens discovered a planet and are about to land on it.

These layered maginfying reticules is a good idea, I just don't think you have managed to find quite the right environment for them yet. I recall the luna scene from inside the spherical spaceship, that was almost there too - I don't know what the answer is yet, but I think you are getting there. I am pondering wheather the starsfields lack enough contextual clues to make the magnifing effect stand out, maybe when we get down to the planets surface... I think I prefer circular lens/reticule arrangement, this display seems a bit too familiar to be of alien origin. I shall await developments.
