I like the one you've been inspired from better, but yours is very good, too. The spheres are cool. Done in wings, I reckon.

1+4+9+16=20? How does that work. Numerical considerations aside, unless 1+3+6+10 which works but does not seem to match the configuration I see in this image. I like the choice of materials, noisy silver is one of the best presets I think, that and alien tree bark, think maybe the apex is too close to the top of the image as far as composition is concerned, though there is not much that can go wrong in this respect. Good shapes for the outers, but if you want to use a glass material for the inners watch the render time saw and you will probably find you need a more open shape to make use of the highlights. Ok, how many spheres next?
