I believe that this image could be improved by altering the lighting, it has been my experiance that the default skies are predominately lacking in shadow depth - there are various ways in which this can be ammended - either by modifying that attribute of the sky, using a different sky, downloading one of the skies from my websites free resource section or and place a point light souce over the sun position at great distance and turn off any cutoff and set the illumination value to about 5 - why... well, as things stand the bump channel of your materials is being wasted and while your island has a 3d structure there are not many clues for our eyes, which a bit of light and shadow all with jump out at us lending the image a bit of dramatic tension - or something, call it what you like I think it can and will look better for very little effort. So there you go, that's my two pennorth for today.

Well...

Yes, didn't spend much time on this pic, just thought it looked nice. Can you believe that theres 60 lights around it? They're all set to 1 so it turns out too dark...
