REalisM?

Wow, realism falls short for this. awesome job. Did you use only the "sun" light in bryce?

Light sources

One light source in this image, the sun, set very low on the horizon. Lots of grey fog in this sky. Original scene very foggy - gamma corrected in psp7 to give a greater contrast between foreground and background.

AMAZING!

David.. another great one....

The textures and depth of field are very good... How ever.. I dont think I would attempt that hair pin turn any faster than 5 MPH...

How would you cope in the snow?

There is a spot in Derbyshire where you pass between some bolders and suddenly encounter a sharp bend overlooking the Hope valley - it's called the surprise - because of the view I presume and not because you frequently encounter blue circle cement waggons coming the other way. That is what gave me the idea for this picture.

Incidentally the lorries do about 60mph around this bend!

Road

Can you give me a hint how you embedded that road into the landscape in Bryce. The pict is very realistic. You could sell it as a photograph. Were there the Hotel ?Galenstock? at right in the bend instead a hill (and at left the entrance to a WW I vintage fortress) I could tell you the exact location.

Embedding roads.

Tricky and I don't think it worked as well as I had hoped, but here's what I did. I took the terrain and painted a road on with the paint tool then dupilcated that terrain and painted off all the rest of the terrain except the road, then I smoothed that a bit and then I inverted that and made it negitive set the first terrain as a positive and grouped them, gave my road-only terrain a road material and push it into the first complete terrain until the road stuck into itself slightly. That how. Expect to be irritated by the excessive fiddlyness of it if you try it!
